THE OFFICIAL VERDICT ON THE TEAMS.

NORFOLK N CHANCE 8TH (Football 4th)

This team were my joint favourites for Poccer 6, after their very impressive debut in Poccer 5. The Football started well, with yet another group win.  Unfortunately the turning point was a penalities defeat to The Terri in the semi finals.
With star man last time Adrian Etheridge went out in 31st place, he had already lost 3 of his team, meaning their Poccer hops were over. Matthew Swann was the best peformer in the Poker, finishing 15th.  I am sure we have not seen the last of this team.

POCA JUNIORS = 6TH (Football 8th)

A brand new side got a rough welcome in the Football losing all 5 games.  This meant an improvement was needed in the Poker, with to their great credit they did.  Rod Bryn-Hussey was their star just missing out on the final table in 10th place.

ACE KICKERS 6th= (Football 3rd)

One man short following a car accident just days before, demonstrates what an excellent performance this side put in.  They eased their way through the group stages before suprisingly losing in the Semis.
With just 5 in the poker and losing two people in the first 5 out, meant a herculean effort was required.  Matthew Martin starred finishing 16th.  This team may well have a bigger future

THE TERRI 5th (Football 2nd)

Our 4th visit from the Terri who managed to beat their previous personal best of 6th place.  Another sound effort in the football, this time finishing 2nd, means it is just their poker they need to work on. With 21 players remaining they had 3 players going strong, but with 18 players left they had none. Martin Fitzjohn was their top scorer finishing in 18th

ANGELS OF HELSBY 4TH (Football 7th)

Our early season dual winners, were an almost completely new side and so it showed in the football. A win in the 7th/8th place was greeted with wild unexpected celebrations.
Pokerwise it looked all over very early on, with just two making the last two thirds of the tournament.  However with Jamie Green [5th] and Mark Smith [2nd] making the final table, they ensured the Angels are the team that has scored the most points since Poccer began.

BANANA DWARVES 3rd (Football 5th)

The Bananas are starting to come back to their best, they have been below par since joint winning event number 1. But are they peaking at exactly the right time. Although they managed only 3rd in their football group, they were very close to toppling both The Pot and Norfolk NC.

With just 25 players remaining the Bananas had all six players still in and it was looking like a dual with The Pot who had 5. However four quick departures meant it was not to be.  Andrew Rushton was the first casualty of the final table when pushing in all blind, incredibly he had AA but it was no match for KT.  Captain Andrew Fensome soon followed out in 7th place.  But they will be a threat in the Final.

BULLENS BULLETS 2nd (Football 6th)

A second runners-up spot for the Bullets, with a weakened footballing side they never really threatend too much in the early stages and with only 5 players the poker was looking ominous.  However despite the usual early exit of Dan Bullen, they progressed nicely and with 17 players left had 4 remaining.  Unfortunately thats where it went wrong. Captain Lee Haywards QQ was no match for A5.  Ian Overson and Craig Dockerill went out with 2 tables left and Ady Talbot finished in 4th.

THE POT 1ST (Football 1st)

The Pot just made it out of their group with a last gasp winners against the Bananas, but performed very well to win the later games.
This side who have always had the ability to do well in both disciplines, have never managed better than 4th, despite captain Glyn Cooke winning Poccer 1.
However this time it was rarely in doubt.  With 4 players on the final table, it was almost in the bag.  By time Chris Bailey was out in 3rd it was already all over, with just left Martin James the task of winning, which he duly did.
Well done to THE POT.

Well played to all our teams and thanks to the brilliant spirit it was played in.
