THE OFFICIAL VERDICT ON THE TEAMS.
SOCKNOSE & SON. 17th (Football 17th)
A dissapointing debut from Socknose & Son who were hampered by a couple of changes just before
the tournamant and early on following an injury in the football. It was always going to be difficult to recover from 17th
in the Football, but they gave everything with a smile on their faces. I predict much bigger things to come
from Tim Ryans team.
BANANA DWARVES 16TH (Football 12th)
One of the most surprising performances came from our joint Poccer 1 winners. They had a
tough group in the football and narrowly missed out on the super eights and managed to only finish in 12th place. Even
with Poccer 2 winner Richard Tekell in the team, the poker was a disaster, with 4 players having Aces busted in the first
3 levels. Only new signing Liam Gallagher gave their score any credibility and prevented the lowest ever score.
Captain Andrew Fensome will need to have a word with his team ahead of the grand final.
GUFFERS & BLUFFERS 15TH (Football 15th)
Another side having their first Poccer experience. They were not expecting to win, but thoroughly
enjoyed themselves. A couple of decent showings in the poker, means that the Guffers need to brush up on their football scores.
THE DITCH SIX 14TH (Football 9th)
If the Bananas performance was a surprise, The Ditch Six one was a shock. Previously undefeated after
winning Poccer 2, everyone was quite weary of the Ditch Six. A 7-1 opening football win looked like everything was
in order, into a suprise defeat in game 2, meant they failed to qualify for the top 8. From 9th place Ditch Six were
still expecting to be a threat, but it never materialised. Jon Laight's side are a fantastic bunch of lads, but will
need to find some of their Poccer 2 form.
FRIENDLY FIVES 13TH (Football 14th)
A vastly improved Football performance from the Friendlies, following their last place last time.
Once again they managed to improve upon their football placing, but not as much as in Poccer 3. A stronger performance
is required in the football before the Friendlies can be threating the leaderboard.
BEBBYS BLUFFERS 12TH (Football 13th)
This poker side were very unlucky to finish as low as 13th, especially after drawing with 3rd place finishers
The Pot. Nick Cank and Jim Cooper put in two very good performances, if a third player could have gone deep,
then Martyn Bebbs side would have had a top 5 finish.
THREE STACKSA HIGH SOCIETY 11TH (Football 4th)
Andrew Rams new side put in a great performance in the football, with some notable scalps including Angels
of Helsby in the Quarter Finals.
Unfortunately the Poker side let down this time, if they can improve their Poker showing this team have
a big future.
ROBBOS ROVERS 10TH (Football 6th)
A similiar performance to Poccer 3 from Robbos Rovers, with Football once again being their strong point.
However a 2nd in Poccer 3 in the football became a 6th this time, making it difficult for this side to make a big impact
on the overall outcome. The crucial point was the 1-0 defeat to Boro Boys in the Quarter Final, which could so easily
been different. I believe there is better to come from this team.
RAKESWAP.COM 9TH (Football 7th)
A 7th in the football was a good performance for this Poker side and were strongly fancied to have a good
showing, however with only 1 player making the last 30, it was not to be their day. A similiar performance in the football
in the future and this side will be a danger.
THE POT 8TH (Football 3rd)
What is it with this poker side, they have always over performed in the football and they let it slip in
the poker. With Poccer 1 winner Glyn Cooke leading the way, a 3rd place in the football probably put them in as favourites
at the half way stage. However with 3 players gone in the first 30, meant it was going to be tough, then when one his
own team took out Glyn, their chances were over. This team has got a Poccer title in its potential, the question is
will they live up to it.
WILLIAM HILL BULLIES 7TH (Football 16th)
A fantastic poker performance from the Bullies, one of the best in a Poccer history, saw them climb 9 places
from their football standings. Chris Hanson put in an amazing effort to come 2nd from his low starting stack.
If this boys can learn to play football, they are a big danger.
TEAM SUNPOKER 6TH (Football 11th)
Another good poker performance, saw Sunpoker climb 5 places from the football, unfortunately it was not
quite enough to trouble the leaders. If they can keep improving on the football, they can only get better.
BULLENS BULLETS 5TH (Football 10th)
Our Poccer 2 runners up, were starting to show some of that form in Poccer 4. With Ricky Hart making
his second final table appearance in Poccer (finishing 3rd) and Ian Overson making the final ten. The Bullets were only one
more decent performance away from challenging for 1st.
BORO BOYS 4TH (Football 1st)
After winning the football the Boro Boys obviously had a big chance. Runners-up in Poccer 3, these boys
were going to be a big threat. Kenny Fergie was leading the way with a great final table performance. With 30
players left they were right in the shake up, but faltered away before the crucial final 2 tables.
ST.ANDREWS ALLIANCE 3RD (Football 5th)
Neil Stewart has been talking up his chances for the last few weeks and all looked to be going according
to plan. A solid football performance and 3 players left in the last 18, they were certainly in the mix up. They
approached the final table with two players still in, but suprisingly fell short at the end, going out in 7th and 8th place.
This team has got a lot of potential.
BOUNCEBACKABILITY 2ND (Football 2nd)
The best performance from a new team, James Williams' side were a real asset to the day, a very talented
football side, combined with real poker ability. This team in my opinion can only improve. James himself lead
his side admirably by coming 4th in the poker and here at Poccer we are delighted to be inviting this side back to the Grand
Final, where they will have a big chance.
ANGELS OF HELSBY 1ST (Football 8th)
Well what can you say about this side, that has not already been said. Our reigning champions, decimated
by injury, bringing in late replacements.
They won the Football in Poccer 3, but only actually won one of their six ties this time around, they stumbled
out of their group in the quarter finals after a 6-0 win and two 5-5 draws! 8th place was still quite a suprise.
However when it came to the Poker, there were always in with a chance. Dave Duncan followed up his
2nd last time with a 15th, which set the scene nicely for a showdown with Bouncebackability and St Andrews Alliance.
Luke Connolly and Robbie Jones fought their way onto the final table, with Robbie the eventual winner. Robbie had less
than 1 big blind left at one point, so this was a remarkable achievement.
The question has to be asked now, is there a team that can stop them making it a hat-trick of Poccer wins.
