Saturday 16th June 2007 saw the first ever Poccer Cup.
Held in Birmingham at the Goals Soccer Centre (Star City) and the Broadway Casino, teams across the country competed
physically and mentally in order to go down in the history of Poccer.
8 teams and 48 players from around the country took part in what proved to be a very exciting and enjoyable competition.
I would like to thank all the players for a great day, everyone joined in the friendly spirit and ensured everyone had
a great time.
I would also like to extend my thanks to Malcom 'The Rock' Harwood, who at 68 not only joined in but gave great coverage
to the event.

Incredibly the first event ended in a tie.
The Short Sighted Banana Dwarves (apparently they stumbled across it in a random name generator!) and the Aylesbury Green
Machine shared the title with a score of 119 points.
3rd place went to the Helsby Hell Huns, whilst the Village Idiots managed to move from last in the football to 4th overall.

The individual winner was Glyn Cooke from The Pot.
Glyn whose previous experience was mostly in the well run APAT games, started the day on 5k chips. He moved
steadily up the leaderboard and lead through most of the final table.
He ended heads up with Steven Rogers from the Aylesbury Green Machine. Steven had started the day with 4.5k and
his very aggressive style had been paying dividends.
Glyn was a big chip leader at heads up, but struck a deal to ensure he took £400 of the individual prize, with £100
going to Steven. The complicated deal meant Steven got the first place points, ensuring his team tied in the team event,
with Glyn taking the title and the trophy! (I am still working it all out!)
